Aerial photography of Tokyo: Tokyo Tower

This was one of about 20 frames I shot with the Hasselblad H4D-40 during the helicopter flight on 19th December.

The H4D is a great camera but it's a CCD and that means awesome colours, amazing dynamic range but not great high ISO performance. The H5D-50C is much better in that department, with its CMOS sensor.

But, not bad..... for a camera that with the 100mm HC f/2.2 lens weighs in at about 8lbs.

Shooting from a chopper usually means 1/250th sec and above. With a lighter camera you can get away with a little less.

Great view. The Nikon D800E took over about three or four frames after this....

  1. Still a great shot of Tokyo Tower

  2. Shooting with an 8lb camera from a helicopter, not sure I could have made it to 20.

  3. Thanks all.

+Edward Craddock It was a challenge. H5D-50C would be a better camera to take up. Got some good ones with the Nikon, which I'll post soon.
