Before entering the shrine, the body must be cleansed: Meiji-jingu, Tokyo

Another shot from the set I shot with my photography student, Lucy, at Meiji-jingu Shrine last week. The shot on the left was made using my Micro-Nikkor 105mm f/2.8 AF D lens and the one on the right with a Nikkor Ai 50mm f/1.2. Lucy and I spent an hour shooting this subject, exploring all the angles, experimenting with the exposures and moods we could create by varying them. Great fun.

Nikon D300

Micro-Nikkor 105mm f/2.8 AF D @ f/3.3

Nikkor 50mm f/1.2 Ai @ f/1.4

Post-processing in Photoshop using Nik Colour Suite 3's cross-processing, darken/lighten centre and Alien Skin's Coliur Film emulation plugin.

All filters faded back, blended, overlayed etc etc. The right-hand shot als had an adjustment layer [hue/saturation] applied, with sections erased and faded.

  1. Wonderful scene. And it's great that you start adding details of the processing applied.
