I'd walked from Onarimon, through Shinbashi and was cutting across Ginza to head towards Tokyo Station. This crossing is right by Shinbashi Station and it's pretty busy. I was watching the old fella in the middle of the shot for some time, just looking through the low-level viewfinder, waiting for my moment; for when there was just the right gap in the passing cars. I was also hoping that I could get taxis to frame the shot. As much as being in the right place at the right time [and getting the shot], there is as much virtue in patience.
Two minutes to wait, before the lights went green for pedestrians - all that time looking through the viewfinder. Just before they changed; snap! I got my taxis.
