I was teaching one of my students, Lucy, down in Hibiya Park today. We were doing some work on portraits. After we finished I spent a while shotting some pics of Kumi, as I always like to do some pics for the models if they come and model for me for free. I'll make her some prints and some calling-cards as well. This shot I thought I'd make into a fake magazine cover for her.
Nikkor 85mm f/1.4 AFD
SB800 at camera left, fired remotely
RAW processed in Capture One using the '70s Colour' style, highlights brought up using the HDR setting and the overall exposure toned down a little.
Border slightly darkened
Photo Stylizer filter in Nik. on setting 1, faded back a little: this pumps the blue and red channel and whitens skin a little too. Then used the Polaroid 669 with blown highlights filter from Alien Skin, again faded back to a mix that suited my taste. Going for that sort of 70s colour feel, with a bit of edge.
All took about ten minutes.
