My first blossom of 2009; Koishikawa Korakuen gardens, Tokyo

Now, I am very prepared to be corrected on this as I am not sure myself: is this sakura? It was in a section of the gardens better know for its 'ume' or plum blossom. But ume is generally pink. Momo [peah blossom] can be this colour but in my experience, sakura is always five-petals, as this flower is. So folks; sakura, ume or momo?

One fact beyond dispute, I hope, is that it sure was pretty and on an unusually warm January day [16 degrees in Tokyo yesterday] seeing this and feeling the warm sun on my back felt good.

  1. I can not help you with the flower type, but I can say I really like it! Great contrast between the center of the flower and the blue background. A.

    Absolutely stunning!

Great detail & I really like this depth of field.
