Over the bridge into Tokyo

The only downside of wanting to shoot the wonderful view from the Yurikamome Line train as it crosses the Rainbow Bridge in Tokyo is the cage you are in at the centre of the bridge's lower deck.

But, not a problem if you want to take advantage of the wonderful lines and shoot the cage instead.

Best views are really to be had by walking over the bridge, which is a great walk by the way.

You can read about my doing that walk a couple of years back, on a day when I had the use of a medium-format digital camera and tilt-shift bellows, here:

Gear and processing on this shot?
Nikon D700
Nikkor 300mm f/4 ED
Shot monochrome in-camera
Tweaked with a custom variation of the 'dark contrast vignette' filter in Silver Efex Pro.

  1. oh! i love this! superb composition. thank you for sharing it. 🙂

  2. Nice lines! And the walk looks really nice too. We might try it now that the weather is warming up. At around 5km that's a good day out, I think. Cheers!

  3. Perfect in monocrome , lovely composition , like it very much !!

  4. Seishi and I walked across the bridge on Thursday for the first time, so I was especially interested in view in your images of this. Needless to say, I was impressed.   I didn't take the big D700, but just my little V1, so no ultra wide or shallow DOF. It was still a lot of fun though.   I was surprised at how much the bridge shook in the strong wind and also with the big trucks.  I was getting camera shake at 1/125 sec.
