Snow-quiet streets of Omori: January 14th, 2013

I guess I am sort of excited about the prospect of having more heavy snow tomorrow, hence the couple of posts today from the last dump of snow we had in Tokyo.

This is a street not far from our flat. A few people were out playing, just wandering and taking it all in. The old lady I chatted to [in the background of this shot, without the umbrella] was saying she had never seen such heavy snow in our neighbourhood.

We love just 2kms from Tokyo Bay, so our area doesn't get so much snow even if the rest of Tokyo is getting it.

Great scenes this day. I didn't spend so long out. The snow was very wet. Hard to shoot in those sorts of conditions and I was tired from the previous day's long drive back from delivering aid in Tohoku.

Maybe tomorrow... if it snows, I'll be out. :-)

Gear on this shot?

  • Nikon D700
  • Nikkor 20mm f/3.5 AiS
  • In-camera monochrome
