The model, the lingerie & the hairdryer: it's a hard life, honestly... it is

This was shot a month or so before Christmas but I was waiting too post it until after +Shinyong Lee had used it for her New Year Card.

Done as part of a shoot for a range of lingerie, by Maison Close, that Shinyong has just put on sale in her online 'PrixPrix' shop.

Spent the day shooting with Shinyong and with Yumi, who was back in town for a weekend. First time we have shot together since Yumi moved to Osaka. Was nice to see her again.

Shiyong has a handy apartment for shooting in: large main room downstairs with the kitchen and entrance area up above on a mezzanine floor. Makes doing shots like this easier, as she was down below in the living/bedroom area and I was shooting straight down from above.

Gear etc?

Large white gloss boards underneath the model. She was laying on them. I took out the join in the two boards using Photoshop.
Alien Bee Ringflash through a large Westcott umbrella on one side, three small speedlights on one stand through another umbrella on the opposite side.

  1. Great shot. I would not have guessed that she was laying. But makes for a really cool hair effect!

  2. Love it! Thanks for the description.

  3. Nice work Alfie , feel warmth and joy in the picture , handy to have power to the hair dryer from her own body.
Nice job with the lighting and composition , but would like to see her feet in the picture or the picture cropped a little higher.

No power to the dryer. Was all done just by styling her hair to look like it was being blown. Yes, the legs.. boards not long enough to have full-body in the shot. Looked sort of odd wherever I cropped it. Thanks for your feedback mate. :-)

  4. It's a tough life for some! Fantastic shot though.

  5. Great shot! Love the lighting.
